Eliminate adversary’s influence

Today is a stepping stone to tomorrow

Faith helps us with the mountains in our lives

In the strength of the Lord

At the beginning of the school year we were reading from the Book of Mormon at breakfast time and we read this verse. After reading Oliver said the prayer and prayed that this new school year we could go forth in the strength of the Lord. I loved that thought so I put it on the fridge as a reminder to go forth in the strength of the Lord

Lessons from ancestors

My parents gifted us a book containing the stories of their lives, their ancestors and a glimpse into their posterity. The photos and stories are a treasure

Seeds

“The seeds of resilience are planted in the way we process the negative events in our life.” -Sheryl Sandburg

“To see things in the seed, that is genius.” -Lao Tzu

“Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonder.”         -Henry David Thoreau

“A seed knows how to wait…a seed is alive while it waits.” -Hope Jahren

“The flowers that bloom tomorrow are the seeds you planted today.”

“When a flower doesn’t bloom you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.” -Alexander Den Heijer

Love them today teach them tomorrow

“If some students are unresponsive maybe you can’t teach them yet, but you can love them. And if you love them today, maybe you can teach them tomorrow.”

-Jeffrey R Holland

Just bloom

“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.”  -Zen Shen

An apostle’s invitation

We were able to take the kids to hear Elder Anderson of the quorum of the twelve apostles speak at BYUI yesterday. They were also able to shake his hand and meet really kind students sitting around us.
Lanning snapped a photo of this quote by President Nelson that he shared in his talk. Elder Anderson assured us that a prophet only makes promises that come from the Lord!

Patience and attitude

We’ve learned lots of life lessons from running…keep going when you’re on empty and give it your all when you have a lot to give!

Prayer changes me

He is everywhere!

“Look for Christ everywhere-I promise He is there! True joy rests on our willingness to come closer to Christ and witness for ourselves.” -Bonnie H. Cordon

This morning my view out our front window looked like an outline of Christ in the clouds with outstretched arms. He really is there, is here actually.

Sermons you act

“Children are more influenced by sermons you act than sermons you preach.” -David O. McKay

We were able to take our 4 oldest children to a session of General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before the session began we met a friendly and kind man who was waiting for his wife. His picture happened to be on the wall by where we met him! As a general authority he has spoken in conference before. His greatest sermon was the Christlike way he interacted with our children! We later met Elder Pieper and Elder Taylor who actually spoke in the session we attended. They were all different personalities, stature and conversations but we left them all feeling the love of the Lord through them. They are sermons we will remember for sure.

Okay in the end

Happy day

“Happy the man, and happy he alone, He who can call to-day his own; He who, secure within , can say: ‘To-morrow, do thy worst, for I have lived to-day.” - Horace, a Roman poet

Recently I went for a walk with my good friend Joy. As we chatted I mentioned that I live with a lot of fear and anxiety. She recommended I read the book “How to stop worrying and start living” by Dale Carnegie.  The quote above is in this book.  There really is so much joy to be found each day. Little children are so good about being in the moment. Yesterday I got to watch the partial solar eclipse with my daughters kindergarten class. Their joy in just being outside and seeing something new was incredible to them(even though half were looking the wrong direction!) I wish I’d snapped a photo!
